34 refers to the chest measurement, which is 34 inches.
R stands for "Regular," indicating the inseam length. A "Regular" inseam is typically around 30 to 32 inches, but it can vary depending on the brand.
So, "34R" generally means the coveralls are designed for someone with a chest measurement of 34 inches and a standard inseam length.
I measured the inseam and the pit to pit, laying flat in the measurement. Let me know if you need any other photos.

@custardoy I checked to see if those measurements were in the range.
Chest measurement: If your chest measurement is around 34 inches, the 34R size should fit well. However, if your chest is a bit larger, you might want to consider a size up.
Height and weight: At 5'8" and 155 lbs, you're within a common range for a Regular inseam (around 30-32 inches), so the "R" (Regular) inseam should work for you.
