If it’s machine washable, I turn delicates (nylon, satin, and silk) inside-out to preserve the sheen of the material. Anything with a graphic, glitter, or sequined is also turned inside out to preserve the detail. I use Gain detergent with a small amount of scent beads. I usually hang dry or tumble air dry (no heat) when appropriate.
