Vintage Tribal Hand Carved Lapis Bead and Floral Silver Bead Long Drop Earrings
Traditionally Afghans have used lapis as a talisman for healing, to stimulate insight and spiritual awakening. It is widely acclaimed to be a symbol of truth and a shield against negative energy. Silver is used as it symbolizes modesty. These are not modern earrings, they do not have a "sterling" stamp.
•Intricately carved Lapis stone beads, silver floral accents and small fish dangles complete these unique and statement making earrings.
•The previous owner purchased these in the 80's from a shop specializing in handcrafted imports from Afghanistan and Pakistan. These are not stamped with any hallmarks, they are likely made of trade coin silver since that is how many Afghan jewelers acquired silver since they do not have silver mines there.
