This is a vintage, leather-wrapped glass wine decanter with leather wrapped stopper. I understand that this might be from the 1950s or 1960s. Leather wrapping is beautifully hand-tooled, accented with brass studs on the seams. The leather pattern is divided into three parts, two of which feature a Fleur de Lis crest, while the third section features a fighting lion crest. The base is stamped “Made in Italy” The leather is in fair condition, a bit dry. There are small parts of the leather that have fallen off due to dryness. These sections I have taken close-up photos of to show detail. The wrapping on the bottle neck also has some damage, while there is a small split at the bottle mouth. The glass stopper’s plastic ribbing is split and shows some damage. The ribbed plastic is of an unusual size, unlike stoppers used today, and I couldn’t find an exact replacement. The plastic is incredibly stiff and dry. The bottle with stopper weighs 2lbs 14oz. The bottle measures 8.5” tall without the stopper, 11.5” tall with stopper installed. Bottle diameter at its widest point is 8”. The interior of the decanter is very clean from what I can see. I don’t think it’s ever been used outside of being something cool to look at.
