The zipper is a little stiff to close, but opens easily. Inside there is a zippered pocket for securing your items, as well as two separated pouches of different sizes to keep frequently used items within easy reach. There is a small front pouch that could hold something very slim (I think it's too small for today's cellphones) but it could hold a handkerchief or your passport for easy access to you when traveling.
