These exquisite oval cameos feature carved-shell heads of Roman Centurions and are set into 900 silver. Probably made in Italy. The necklace is 17” long, end to end. Bracelet is 7” long, end to end. The cameos are carved from shells; each background (the white part) is cross-hatched and throws pink, blue & gold hues. The heads are brownish in color & also throw colors. And each oval is wrapped in twisted gold wire. I note one cameo, on the necklace, is missing its twisted gold wire but it’s not really noticeable. The necklace has three (3) cameos and a delicate silver chain with a locking circular clasp. The bottom-most cameo is larger than the two above it. The bracelet has 10 cameos, all the same size, and a push-in locking mechanism to keep it secure. Push in the loop-type pin, & it will unlock. The earrings appear to be mismatched but they complete this set. I note the earrings have different twisting mechanisms but both work. And one carved head is slightly larger although the cameos are the same size. This set boasts timeless charm. The countless hours involved in carving the cameos, making the settings & putting these pieces together really show. Each cameo looks like a mini-portrait. Vintage!
