Cannondale Pro Cycling Team was the successor to Liquigas-Cannondale sponsored by the Italian gas company of the same name. As of 2013, Brixia Sport had taken over the license, with bicycle manufacturer Cannondale as the main sponsor. It remained an Italian cycling team, which competed in the UCI World Tour. The team was founded in 2005 as a new team, which attracted many riders from the disbanded teams Alessio and Vini Caldirola. The riders rode Cannondale bikes. In the grand tours, the team rode the Cannondale Super-Six Hi-Mod. During rides with poor road surfaces (e.g. Paris-Roubaix), the team often opted for the Cannondale Synapse Hi-mod. Before 2005, however, sponsor Liquigas was already active in cycling. In 1998 it was a co-sponsor of the Brescialat team, and from 1999 to 2001 it was the main sponsor of its own professional team, including Davide Rebellin and Serhij Hontsjar. After 2001, that small cycling team was continued by Cage Maglierie and Tenax. Liquigas has also been a sponsor of various cycling races for a long time.
