The brooch features a beautifully hand carved oval frame with Ramasoon and Mekkala as the featured figures, often depicted together. Mekkala(h), the Goddess of Lightning – shown with lightning bolts coming from her hand. A well known figure in Thai culture. This is by far the most common character depicted in Siam jewellery, and is the theme you normally see in Siam jewellery. Ramasoon, the God of Thunder – shown with an axe in his hand. Often shown with Mekkala. I have an ENORMOUS collection of Siam sterling pieces, keyword search with the "Siam" and the entire collection will come up. All of the Siam pieces in my shop are sterling. C O N D I T I O N: Good vintage condition. The enclosure works smoothly. Some wear on the front along the frame and some normal surface scratches. Some of the enamel seems to have bled into the frame a bit. Likely from normal age. Still a very beautiful and wearable piece! I accounted for this in the cost.
