Naturally Derived PHA: sourced from local farms in Arizona, Sicily and Australia, our PHA (Gluconic Acid) is sourced from the Prickly Pears Cactus which offers a naturally derived and vegan form of PHA. Gluconic Acid is the byproduct of the fermentation of kefir grains with Prickly Pear to produce a local beverage called Water Kefir, or Tibicos. Because of the climate of its natural habitat, the Prickly Pear needs very little water to survive, which makes it more sustainably friendly towards water consumption. As skin cells die, they can often clump together and get stuck on top of the skin. An accumulation of dead skin cells on the skin’s surface leads to dullness, dehydration and enlarged pores. PHAs actively dissolve the bonds that hold dead skin cells together and remove impurities, revealing brighter and more refined skin. Pomegranate Enzymes: sourced from local farms in California, Spain and India, our Pomegranate Enzymes are upcycled from residual fruit pulp left over from the beverage industry, which is then fermented. Pomegranates contains proteolytic enzymes which help to breakdown and digest dead skin cell build up on the skin’s surface. This is an incredibly gentle but effective form of exfoliation, with the efficacy of Glycolic Acid but none of the irritation. The extract also contains Chlorogenic Acid which has soothing properties.
