auntgeorge50 hey ladies! @curlyhead_0477 sends her love and apologies. She is fighting the eternal insurance/hospital system. Mike's doctor is amazing, but Stephanie is on her own. Her sister is coming from Germany to help. Stephanie is exhausted. Feeling the system has pretty much left Mike to die. Please keep her in your prayers. Mike needs a male to come alongside of him to visit and hang out. He needs your prayers more than ever.

curlyhead_0477 Sorry, sweet friends. Mike was in the ER until the afternoon and then got admitted to a cardiac unit. They want to do a d-fib (?) to reset his heart rhythm. His body is under such stress that his heart has gotten out of the sinus rhythm. We talked with the oncologist yesterday and he said that he could go ahead with chemo/ immunotherapy after that.

curlyhead_0477 The girls were so scared when the ambulance came (although they are always curious) and I know it is hard on my sister having to do all this for her brother-in-law. But she is a star 🌟! The oncologist also confirmed that it home care is very tough to set up. So prayers needed for that! Mike can’t go home again without help… I am not a professional!

The oncologist is saying that some of the tumors have grown. I know this is a battle of life and death.

menageatrice @curlyhead_0477 Thank you so much for the updates! It sounds so dire, and I'm so sorry. Yes, home health is a challenge. Have you looked into Soleo Medical? (It's national.) I've used them for 12 years, first in CA, now in PA. I get a 10-hr infusion every 3 weeks so they send a nurse to our home to administer it.

My infusions are $32,000 a piece, and my Stanford neurologist tried for months to get it approved to no avail. Soleo stepped in and got it approved in 48 hrs! I've been getting the infusions since, and we pay almost nothing.

Praying the various doctors will communicate well - hospitalist, cardiologist, oncologist. Most of it is already approved by our healthshare. It’s just getting it set up. The hospitalist also apologized for the nightmare we have been through! Mike can’t go home unless things are set up well. And his heart is back in rhythm.

menageatrice @curlyhead_0477 I have one PCP and 22 specialists on my Johns Hopkins team - each one treats only their specialty and ignores what the others are treating. But we're holistic beings and everything in our body affects everything else. Things would work so much more symbiotically if your oncologist, cardiologist etc worked together to treat the whole person, wouldn't they? Definite prayers for that!

My sister is trying to… put some steam under their bottoms (to use a German idiom!) the girls are really intimidated by what is going on. Still full of faith, but it is scary…

curlyhead_0477 I feel like grieving is not even possible yet! Both our youngest and middle daughters caught a tummy bug and with their grief, it took more than 24h. My eldest is still okay but of course it’s a mix of amazing conversations and completely acting up and floods of tears. They do burst out from me as well… but it is so hard!

curlyhead_0477 My parents are amazing and patient and supportive but also had to not only get over their jet lag, pivot into American ways of doing things and support all of us whom they have not seen in so long. My mum is very willing but less mobile so I am doing a lot of extra running for her. We are getting the funeral organised and the Lord is overall with us.

And a friend and our family doctor set up a meal train for us, which means my parents can also focus on helping and the girls instead of cooking every night. Living well on leftovers!

No one is going to complain cause you shared on a Saturday or Sunday and if you miss a day, that's okay too. I watch for Kids Party and try to share everybody 's closet even on Saturday and Sunday!
