This is similar to the Epiphyllum orchid Native to the warm and humid rainforests of Central and tropical America, the Queen of the Night is a cactus with spectacular flowering. Its flower, which reaches up to 40 centimetres in diameter, blooms only one night a year, releasing a powerful vanilla aroma that attracts pollinators during the few hours it remains open. Furthermore, its Latin name, Selenicereus grandiflorus, comes from the name of the Greek goddess of the Moon, Selene, in reference to the nocturnal blooming of its flowers.
