1983 1st Ed. Cabbage Patch Doll with Original Tag- 7A $90 or $80 w/offer

1983 First Edition Cabbage Patch doll with original paper tag dressed in a blue outfit with adorable brown hair. Doll appears to have never been played with. It comes in authentic clothing including diapers. The doll is in excellent condition except for being dusty from being in storage, elastic band on hair broke off and the elastic on the pants has lost it elasticity. It is signed by doll designer Xavier Roberts. This is a blue signed doll which means from my research that it is a first edition. The head mold is numbered 3 and called “the Happy Face.” Doll does not come in original box. *fact: Xavier Roberts came up with the idea of the Cabbage Patch Doll when he once went to an art fair. He saw Martha Thomas’s Doll Baby dolls and doll heads. Roberts decided to create his own dolls (basically stole her idea). Ironically, the Cabbage Patch dolls have value especially with collectors but the Doll Baby has very little value. You can call the Doll Baby doll: pre- Cabbage Patch, but it is NOT a Cabbage Patch Doll. Thomas never patented her Doll Baby, perhaps she should have. I had both dolls as a kid, although they are similar, there are recognizable differences especially on the face molds. Again let me state: DOLL BABY DOLLS ARE NOT CABBAGE PATCH DOLLS.
