Antique Facetted Cherry Amber Necklace 80g 42" Long

A stunning antique genuine cherry amber facetted bead necklace weighing 80 grams and measuring approx. 42" long. Each bead is hand knotted and the ends are hand sewn onto a brass tone clasp. The largest bead is approx 1 1/16" long with an approx. 7/8" diameter. they graduate to approx 1/4". The term Bakelite cherry Amber is commonly used by this white are not sure if they have Bakelite or cherry amber. The 2 are no the same. Some Bakelite was made to simulate cherry amber in color. Amber is the original natural tree sap while Bakelite is a manmade phenolic resin. There is a somewhat waxy feel to amber and the holes weren't drilled perfectly like Bakelite beads were. Try this test to tell amber from bakelite: Rub your amber to create a diction then tear a small piece of tissue paper and lift the tissue up with the amber. This won';t work on anything else. Beautiful antique condition with no damage that I can feel or see.
