Lovely Vintage 60’s Purse

Lovely, Classic Vintage Half-Moon Shaped Purse with Metal Frame, circa early 1960’s. Brand is Lesco Lona and the Brass Interior Zipper Pull is stamped S & H. The purse has a thumb-lift closure. For a bit of history, Lesco and Lona, two leading mid-century handbag manufacturers, merged in 1961 to create Lesco Lona. I did a bit of research and in June of 1961 Lesco Lona turned out bags that looked like pearlized lizard as well as baby alligator, but was actually calf leather imprinted with a lizard or alligator grain. This shade was called Alabaster. There is no material label inside the bag, however Lesco Lona was not known to manufacture faux leather bags in this time period. In the 1950’s through the merge in 1961, Lona bags were known to use faux leather. There are two card slots inside as well as a small zippered compartment. Excellent Vintage Condition; a couple of minor surface scratches on the gold metal frame (zoom in on 2nd photo to see) and a bit of discoloration on the bottom exterior. Interior is impeccable.
