Issued at the height of Saturday-night fever, Pickwick bundled two LPs of freshly recorded cover versions of 1976-77 chart monsters—everything from Marvin Gaye’s “Got To Give It Up” to KC’s “I’m Your Boogie Man,” Abba’s “Dancing Queen,” right through the Eagles’ “Hotel California.” The house bands—Detroit’s Motor City Rollers and L.A. session crew P.K. & the Sound Explosion—segued each cut so the floor never cools, giving bedroom DJs an instant party kit.
