I have the same pair in a size 27 and the waist measures 16".

@kelleyl2017 Thanks for your interest in these great jeans! I posted a pic with measuring tape. It’s definitely 16” front only. And I also checked other 29 waist jeans listed in my Poshmark closet and they are the same measurement. Hope that helps. 🥰
