"Schindler's List" tells the true story of Oskar Schindler, a German industrialist who saved over 1,200 Jews from the Holocaust by employing them in his factories. The film is based on the 1982 historical novel Schindler's Ark by Thomas Keneally, which fictionalized some dialogue and scenes where historical details were unknown. While the film is largely historically accurate, it does take some liberties for dramatic effect Schindler's actions were recognized after the war.
