Frankoma Pottery was founded in 1933 by John Frank in Norman, Oklahoma. Frank, a graduate of the Chicago School of Art and ceramics professor at the University of Oklahoma, began the company as a hobby with his family. In 1934, he incorporated the business and renamed it Frankoma Pottery. The company produced many items including dinnerware, vases, artware, figurines, and trivets. All Frankoma pottery is made in the US from locally excavated clay, primarily from the Ada and Sapulpa areas of Oklahoma.
