🔺Heard Museum in DT Phoenix, Arizona. The Heard Museum’s collection includes more than 3,600 pieces of American Indian Art.
🔺The Bear is associated with the West. Many of these carvings have a Heartline design – an arrow pointing into the center of the animal, which represents the powerful breath of life.
🔺Zuni-The bear is a depiction of a Zuni animal god, which, in fetish form, holds the spirit of the animal. Zuni fetish sculptures are particularly important for their function in the hunt. The Zuni believe that carnivorous animals possess a spiritual or magical influence over their prey.
