This is an antique vintage Stetson Bowler hat in dark grey. It is a Stetson Royal De Luxe hat and is in excellent condition - especially considering its age. While it is difficult to pinpoint the exact date that this hat was made, I know that it is from the 1920's - the 1940's. I have determined this from the store that is imprinted on the inside leather band. It reads "The Wardrobe" - "Under the Town Clock - Petaluma, Calif." I have researched that the store "The Wardrobe" was opened in 1911 and was located under the town clock. There is no record as to when the store closed but it is likely the store closed in the 1940's. Another indication that this hat comes from the earlier 20th century by Stetson is the size tag in the hat. It simply reads "1/4" which indicates the hat is size 7 1/4". I understand that Stetson used this convention for size tags in the earlier part of the the 1900's. The hat's condition is outstanding. There are no moth damage or stains. This is a collectors hat but still can be worn proudly for many years to come. Please see all photos as they are included to augment written description and condition.
