She's a petite little beauty! I cannot find a single bead loose or out of place. Gold-tone frame and kiss-lock have a little wear, as is appropriate for her age.
Corde is the French word for rope, but in textiles, referred to a specific embroidery method. Corde was later used to describe plastic beadwork on mid-century Lumured brand handbags. According to Bob Kaphan, the son of plastic fabric inventor and Lumured partner Ludwig Kaphan, "corde bead" was a name invented by another company partner, Murray Getter, who was likely referencing the two-tone beaded pattern. However, it's possible this was also a nod to corde, the embroidered fabric.
