This gorgeous bag is in amazing condition for her age. The outside is in almost excellent condition.
There are two minor flaws.
1. Is a pen mark on the outside of the bag but under the flap. See pics with my finger pointing to it.
2. Darkened spot. Both are about the width of a pencil eraser.
The turn-lock closure is scratched.
Her interior needs cleaned! and does show some dirt. I just don't have the tools to clean her properly.
The inside of the outside pocket is dirty and needs cleaned.
The COACH Vintage 80's City Bag is a medium-sized crossbody and shoulder handbag crafted from bone ivory glovetanned leather with a vintage classic theme. It features a rectangular shape with a turn-lock closure, brass hardware, and a matte finish. The bag includes a strap accent, zipper accents, and a bag charm, highlighting its pebbled character. The interior is lined with ivory leather and has inner pockets for organization, while the cross-body strap is adjustable for comfort. This timeless piece exudes a sophisticated charm with its elegant design and quality craftsmanship.

Could you include a couple shots of the interior of the bag please? 🙂

@mygirlmom000 I added some pics. I have 24 pics on another and I wish posh allowed for more pics. The inside needs cleaned but just seems like surface dirt to me. Mostly where the suede is shows some dirt. There is no damage or “spots” I wish I knew how to properly clean the bag.

@lisaandandy22 Thank you! White and bone are very difficult to clean without damaging the color (which I have done accidentally). I have spent the last year developing my skills on care of white and bone, so I always prefer that sellers leave them as is. 🙂

It’s very clean for a bag of that age! The contrast from the inner pocket that shows some dirt to the outside being so clean and scuff free does make me wonder if someone painted the bag, and they didn’t do the inside back pocket. That is very common with the light colors, a lot of people resort to paint to cover the wear and tear. What does the inside of the front pocket look like? That may be another clue, unless you are the original owner and know the history of the bag?

@mygirlmom000 the outside is amazing. I am not the original owner. What would be done signs of painting? Yes , the inside definitely has surface dirt. And yes same with inside the outer pocket. Thanks

@lisaandandy22 First, the difference between the very clean outside & inside parts. Bad paint jobs are sloppy & obvious, good ones can look great. The best way to tell is use acetone free nail polish remover on a swab, rub gently in hidden area, see if paint comes off. You might need to put a piece of dark fabric over the swab since it’s so light.

Sometimes removing the hardware helps, then you can compare the leather underneath. I have several bone bags, usually bags that age with that much interior wear and accumulated grime (totally normal for that age!) don’t look that clean outside. They wear on the corners, around the turn look, top of the flap, strap & bottom. The high touch areas, generally. Also, painted bags have a hard time absorbing conditioner. Try some Leather CPR, that will not hurt the finish at all.

@mygirlmom000 I don’t feel comfortable removing the hardware. I watched videos how to tell if a coach is painted. I honestly don’t think it is. The conditioner sucked right in. There are no “cracked paint” looking parts. The leather still feels like leather. There isn’t a lot of wear on the interior but “dirt” on the suede part. The stitching does not look painted & raw edges still look raw & not covered with paint. It doesn’t look “shiny” like most painted bags are. I appreciate your help.

@lisaandandy22 All of that sounds promising! If you aren’t comfortable taking off the hardware, understandable. It’s harder to get back on than off. Thank you so much for being willing to thoroughly check the bag over and add photos!!!
