Origin and Era: It's an American-made Art Deco piece from the 1920s, manufactured by the Reich-Ash Corporation in New York City.
Purpose: These boxes were typically designed to hold face powder and often included a mirror and a puff, serving as a compact for on-the-go touch-ups.

The Picture shows dark and light on green color. Is this due to large scratches.

The two shades of green are mostly due to age and surface wear.
• The lighter, uneven patches appear where the top enamel layer has worn away, likely exposing a faded or oxidized underlayer.
• You can see scratching and abrasions consistent with handling and long-term use, especially in the center and near the edges.
