Lorraine Waatsa is a renowned Zuni jewelry artist known for her exceptional skill in crafting intricate petit point and clusterwork pieces, featuring high-grade coral, lapis, and Fox Mine turquoise.
Lorraine descends from a prominent family of Zuni jewelers. The daughter of acclaimed Zuni jewelers Alice and Duane Quam and the grandchild of Doris and Wayne Ondelacy, Lorraine learned her craft at a young age by observing and assisting her parents and grandparents.
Lorraine collaborates with her husband, Luwayne Waatsa. Lorraine excels in stone cutting and shaping, and Luwayne specializes in the intricate silverwork that complements her stone placements. Their combined expertise results in highly collectible Zuni cluster jewelry, admired for its precision and the use of high-quality materials, such as the Mediterranean (ox-blood red) coral used in this beautiful pendant/brooch.
The Waatsas have received numerous accolades for their artistry, including blue ribbons from the prestigious Gallup Ceremonial and has been featured in publications like "Zuni Jewelry" by Theda and Michael Bassman.
This exquisite piece showcases the intricate Zuni clusterwork style, characterized by numerous hand-cut and expertly arranged gemstones, in this case, vibrant red Mediterranean coral. The pendant/brooch also features delicate silverwork, including a central rope-like design and dangles with additional coral accents.
Smoke-free, dog-friendly home.

Sorry! I had a show today. It is for sale although I hate letting it go. I looked for a piece made by her or Alice Quam forever. I retired and i am downsizing my Native American collection. When I get home from the post office I will look at you offer. I dont have much wiggle room. You obviously know good pieces. A NA jewelry appraiserhas seen the piece btw. Thanks
