ShoppeGigi has an original 2015 @Talking Heads t-shirt featuring the album that introduced us to this song, ‘Life During Wartime’.
Released on August 3, 1979, Talking Heads made a huge impact with their 3rd album, Fear Of Music.
The LP sleeve was all black, (like the t-shirt graphic), and embossed with a pattern that resembled the texture of tread plate metal flooring, reflecting the album’s urban subject matter.
Jon Pareles, with Rolling Stone, described the ‘Fear Of Music’ album as “deliberately, brilliantly disorienting. Like its black, corrugated packaging (resembling a manhole cover), the album is foreboding, inescapably urban and obsessed with texture.”
It was recorded in the apartment building of band members Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth with a sound engineering crew parked in a Record Plant van outside, cables running from the loft, out the window. It took 2 Sundays, when the road was quiet, to record the basic tracks with Producer, Brian Eno
