Russian LEGENDS Vintage Plate

This is a vintage collector's plate from the 1988 Russian Legends series, depicting the Russian fairytale of Ruslan and Ludmilla. The plate is an example of Palekh miniature art, which is characterized by its intricate details and use of bright colors on a black lacquer background.  Series: Russian Legends, the first collector plate series produced in Russia.  The plates were made of porcelain and decorated with up to 17 layers of colored pigments and 18-karat gold.
