Exquisite antique Limoges letter knife features a porcelain handle with hand painted roses in pink and yellow, blue flowers and greenery, surrounded by a border of deeper pink and gold on one side, and without the border on the other side of the handle. The metal of the blade as well as above the base of the handle and the bottom of the handle is most likely pewter, however, the metal has no markings regarding the material. This lovely piece matches the Limoges inkwell that is also for sale in my closet, see the separate listing. This piece is 7-3/4 inches long and is marked "Limoges France" on the end of the handle, and dates to the early-to-mid 19th century. Please note that the knife has some minor wear, and the tip looks like it has some oxidation; I am not sure and did not want to scrub this so as not to scratch it. There is only one very minor bit of slight discoloration just above the metal portion of the base of the handle, but otherwise it is in good condition; no cracks or chips on the porcelain.
