Made from high-quality porcelain, this vintage urn is part of the Century product line. It features a Palmer Bentley Wedgewood model and is adorned with intricate details. Some wear throughout. Small crack repaired at neck .This is from the estate of Lewis Machen a clerk of the United States Senate and farmer in Fairfax County, Virginia. It was Machen who rescued the records of the Senate when British troops burned much of Washington, D.C. during the War of 1812.
It was in in the historical home “Walney” in Virginia .
Thomas Corbett was captured at Walney in 1863 by the infamous Confederate raider Colonel John S. Mosby and his men. After the end of the war, Corbett became famous as the man who shot and killed the fleeing John Wilkes Booth after the assassination of President Lincoln
