Vintage Santa Clara Pueblo Black Mini Pot Art Cody Haungooah sgraffito Carving

A vintage piece of Santa Clara Pueblo pottery, a seed pot, featuring sgraffito carving. Santa Clara Pueblo pottery is traditionally hand-coiled, made from locally gathered clay, and fired using traditional methods, often resulting in red or blackware. Art Cody Haungooah became an outstanding decorator of miniature pottery and was one of the early artists to perfect the sgraffito style of carving, Art Cody continued making pottery until he met with tragedy in a head-on automobile collision in 1985.Very special unique piece of art. This has been a part of my collection for over 40 years. A unique piece for a Native American pottery fan. This piece is made from black ware clay. Signed “Haungooah 76” Approximately just under an inch in height and just under 2”in diameter. The measurements shown in pictures. The piece has some minor wear.
