Vintage 1950 Melon Orange Abstract Pottery Ashtray Handmade 1953 Signed by Sears

Product Description: The piece is a small, semi-circular or D-shaped ashtray crafted from a clay body and finished in a vibrant, glossy, melon-orange or terracotta-orange glaze. The ashtray has a low, shallow dish shape with a sculpted top edge featuring three raised, U-shaped indentations designed to hold cigarettes or small cigars. The overall form is organic and slightly wavy. The interior surface of the ashtray is decorated with an abstract, hand-painted design in creamy-white glaze. This decoration consists of a central wavy line with several small dots positioned both on and below the curve of the line, giving it a whimsical or stylized, primitive appearance. The base of the ashtray is glazed in the same melon-orange color and contains hand-etched inscriptions, clearly added before the final firing.
