1960s Signed Vintage Bennington Rockingham Hunt Scene Pitcher.
Cold Painted by Ophelia Manning in 1968.
Beautifully painted with great detail, looks like majolica.
Grey hound handle, on one side there is a fox with wild game and the other a hare.
Great condition, no cracks or chips, lots of crazing on the inside and some paint loss, see last picture.
Pitcher would look great used as a vase for fall decorating; I had wheat in it.
Never scrub a cold painted item, gently wipe with damp cloth to clean.
10 1/4” tall x 8” Wide including spout and handle x
Many vintage items have been cold painted. Cold painting is a technique where the paint is NOT fired on.
A cold painted item is fired in a kiln and then the paint is added on after the firing.
Paint that is added on this way – ‘COLD’- will sometimes flake off over time.
