Add a touch of vintage charm to your home with this beautiful aqua glass insulator. Perfect for adding a unique accent to any room. Glass insulators were primarily used during the late 19th and early 20th centuries to insulate and protect telegraph and telephone wires, preventing electrical currents from leaking into the poles or the ground. Whitall Tatum and Company, a glassware manufacturer founded in 1806, officially entered the insulator market in 1922. The company continued to produce these "petticoat" shaped insulators until it was purchased by the Armstrong Cork Corporation in 1938.
