Excellent Condition. -Approx size: 5”H x 4”W x 1.75”D A Tree of Life (Spanish: Árbol de la vida) is a type of Mexican pottery sculpture traditional in central Mexico, especially in the municipality of State of Mexico The sculptures are primarily made from local clay, often mixed with ash from burnt corn stalks or "plumilla" for consistency. The artisan forms numerous small figures and attaches them to the main tree structure while the clay is soft. After the piece is sun-dried and fired in a wood oven, it is painted with vibrant, contrasting colors.
