This gorgeous vintage ceramic faience Royal Copenhagen dish by Nils Thorsson is part of his Baca series. Nils Thorsson designed a number of various basic forms and developed a new silkscreen printing technique used for decoration; he was the senior/head Painter and the day to day artistic manager at Royal Copenhagen from 1949 through 1969. This beautiful dish measures 6-3/4 inches square with rounded edges, is 1-1/2 inches deep, and in earth colors of brown, tan, cream and taupe. The name Baca is latin for ring. Apart from the Royal Copenhagen mark this dish (and the series) is marked with a ring in which the artist’s mark is located (Thorsson). The number above the line indicates the number of the decoration, the number below, the form. The letter on the right side identifies the painter. This dish is in excellent, almost like-new condition.
