The 9 - 2008 Sierra Leone - 1 dollar - blackened coins featuring the Bush Baby on a branch, are part of the "Nocturnal Animals" series issued by the government of Sierra Leone in 2008
The coins were struck by the Pobjoy Mint in two versions with different metal compositions and denominations, though both feature the bush baby on a branch each will have their denomination marked next to the nocturnal animal native to the region. ($1 and $10)
These 9 coins listed are of the $1 denomination.
The reverse side of the coin shows the Sierra Leone coat of arms.
The 9 $1 coins:
These 9 coins are "Cupro-Nickel" coins, being composed of copper and nickle.
The $1 style coin was issued with a "blackened" finish to match the nocturnal wildlife theme.
The wife and I purchased these uncirculated and the came to us in different shades of this blackened color. Some being very blackened while others have no blackened color to them at all. they've all been handled and are in different states of conditions
I'm currently selling everything I've ever collected and these fall into that category.
They were all purchased online, for 20 bucks each back in 2008, and the coins are still going for that much today.... so let's do the math..🤔🤔 yes I'm practically giving these away lol
Weight per coin: 28.28 grams
