Born in Paris on November 16, 1908, Raymond Peynet attended the Ecole des Arts Appliqués at age fifteen.
"Les Amoureux" - The Lovers began In 1942, while stationed in Valence, he drew a violinist and his admirer, which was published by the newspaper Ric et Rac and nicknamed "Les Amoureux de Peynet".
The couple's image became infamous.
The Lovers brought him worldwide fame, especially from the 1950s to 1960s.
He received honors such as being made a Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1987 and having a museum dedicated to him in Tokyo in 1980.
Raymond Peynet passed away on January 14, 1999, in Mougins.
Four museums are dedicated to his work today.
