He did not sign his designs. • The design was first issued in 1953 and has been reissued multiple times since, including in 1982, 1990, and 2007. • The design is based on the stern of the magnificent 17th-century French royal galley, La Réale, which was the flagship of King Louis XIV's naval fleet. The design was inspired by a model of the ship on display at the Musée National de la Marine in Paris. • It is a 90cm (approximately 35-inch) square scarf made of 100% twill silk with hand-rolled edges, a signature of Hermès craftsmanship.
