Similar carvings are often found within the African or Jamaican folk art styles, and signed on the back An original by Frazer 1976 and the name of the piece DIXIE LAND DRUMMER These types of hand-carved wooden masks typically feature expressive, sometimes grotesque or whimsical, faces with visible tool marks, which is characteristic of the folk art style. The addition of a hat or other elements may indicate a specific character or a regional variation. Called a Mask, but it is solid piece.
