This stunning vintage Mid-century (1950s–1960s era) Coro gold-tone necklace features a cascading loop / teardrop design with polished gold beads. A gorgeous mid-century statement piece — bold yet classy. Hook clasp closure with adjustable length. Signed Coro (authentic). The necklace also features an openwork cut-out Ichthus fish design. The Ichthus Fish is a powerful Christian symbol, representing the Greek word for fish (ἰχθύς) as an acronym for Iēsous Christos Theou Uios Sōtēr—"Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior". Early Christians used this secret symbol to identify themselves and confess their faith in Jesus, referencing His miracles and association with fish in the Bible, and it remains a prominent sign of belief today. During Roman persecution, Christians would draw one arc of the fish; if the other person completed it as a fish, they were fellow believers. It links to Jesus' miracles of feeding the multitudes with loaves and fishes and His post-resurrection meals with disciples. The fish itself became a visual representation of Christ and His saving work, often appearing in catacombs and on early Christian artifacts.
Perfect for collectors, formal outfits, holiday parties, weddings, and vintage fashion lovers. In excellent condition. Smoke free home.
