Stunning statement Vintage Native American Navajo turquoise and sterling silver ring. The ring features a prominent, oval-shaped natural turquoise stone with a distinct black spiderweb matrix, consistent with the highly desirable and closed Number 8 mine, a mine known for producing stones with a prominent matrix, black and clear, with stunning blue clarity in stone. The stone exhibits a beautiful blue hue with an intricate, natural-looking black spiderweb matrix embedded within it.
The gemstone is secured by a smooth bezel setting and is further accentuated by traditional sterling silver metalwork. The setting is surrounded by a twisted silver wire (known as a rope or twist wire design), a common technique in Native American jewelry. The split band has markings on it, and is adjustable in size due to open design. Heavy gauge sterling silver, which tapers towards the back and features hand-stamped designs, a characteristic of handcrafted vintage Native American pieces, particularly from the Navajo tribe.
The ring has a substantial weight and a natural patina on the silver, age and oxidation consistent with a vintage item that has been worn and loved. The specific artist or tribe is not immediately identifiable without a visible hallmark or signature on the piece, though many older pieces are unsigned.
From personal collection late 1970's.

@roxanamaldo awe, thank you! My husband's family collected for decades, we then had a secondary home in New Mexico for 40 years. My husband has enough Cherokee in him to be allowed to go into different, non public areas of the Pueblo, and bought some amazing pieces. We bought like crazy in the 80's!
