Vintage Classic Sterling Silver Wasp/Flying Insect Brooch/Pin Signed Taxco 925

Vintage hand crafted from sterling silver, this is a detailed wasp-shaped/flying insect brooch. It has a smooth polished finish but also great detail and is a very sturdy piece. The closure is a pin stem with a rollover catch that works well. These types of sterling silver flying insect brooches were a popular item for Taxco craftsman in the 1950s through 1980s. There is some natural patina seen on various areas of this brooch. The size is approximately 1-1/2" x 3/4". It's signed on the bottom and stamped 925. There is also an eagle stamp with the number 3, a Mexican government assay hallmark used between 1948 and 1979 to indicate that a piece of silver jewelry was produced in Taxco, Mexico, which gives you a date range for this piece.
