Del Webb’s Mint Hotel & Casino opened in 1957 on Fremont Street and quickly became one of downtown Las Vegas’ signature landmarks. Known for its 26-story tower completed in 1965, the Mint helped redefine the Fremont skyline and was home to the famous Mint 400 off-road race. The property was part of the Del Webb Hotels International chain, which operated resorts across Nevada, Arizona, California, and Hawaii. In 1988, the Mint closed and was absorbed into Binion’s Horseshoe, ending an iconic era of vintage Vegas hospitality. This matchbook cover features the classic red-and-white Mint branding with Webb’s globe logo on the reverse, a great snapshot of mid-century Las Vegas advertising.
