This charming little vase was made by artisans in the town of Chulucanas, Peru, using techniques that date back to pre-Inca times. The rich black color was achieved through a unique reduction firing process using mango tree leaves that create smoke and natural resin that colors the pottery surface. It was then hand painted with traditional designs in a creamy, off-white color. The vase is initialed on the bottom and measures 3.5 inches tall by 3 inches wide - it is in excellent vintage condition.
