72 x 58 Inches of pure vintage beauty in this Beaver State blanket from the Pacific Northwest where Pendleton was born. The design is Chief Joseph, first woven in the 1920s, this USA-made wool blanket has been one of Pendletons most popular designs ever since. Chief Joseph led the Nez Perce tribe out of northeastern Oregon in the late 1800s. Widely admired for protecting his people and speaking the truth, he is honored with this design, symbolizing bravery. Bold arrowheads represent the chief's courage, strength and integrity. The HIYU 47 symbol was a traditional mark of Northwestern tribes typically meaning plenty, a party or gathering. Chances are this was a Pow Wow blanket robe. It is in excellent condition for its age of 79 and an heirloom for the generations. Please see the photos for the minor flaws and measurements.
