The beginning of the market for Russian-made collector's plates coincided with the breakup of the Soviet Union. In 1988, the first 12 plates produced formed the series RUSSIAN LEGENDS. The artists were famous Russian miniature artists from Palekh, Kholui, and Fedoskino.
"Lukomorya" is the fourth plate in the collection, created in the style of Palekh miniature art. The artwork is based on Alexander Pushkin's fairy tale poem Lukomorya.
The plate is made of hard-fired porcelain with up to 17 layers of colored pigments on a black background. It is enhanced with 18kt gold accents.
The backs of each plate carries information in Russian together with the title and an individual Bradford Exchange serial number.
Measures approx 7¾" (19cm) in diameter, 9"(23cm) with a frame.
Excellent vintage pre-owned condition with barely any signs of age and wear.
Have a custom-made frame made in Canada. Ready to hang.
*It is an art object and not intended for food use.*
