These are the iconic late-1970s "Meteor"
cantilevered wedges from the Charles Jourdan Parallele line. Known for their daring, sculptural
"floating" heel, these shoes were a staple of the avant-garde fashion campaigns photographed by Guy Bourdin.
Details:
• Brand: Charles Jourdan Parallele (Made in France).
• Era: Circa 1977-1979.
• Material: Two-tone green velvet upper; teal-green body with forest-green toe and wedge.
Leather soles.
• Design: The famous "Meteor" cut-out cantilevered wedge—a masterpiece of footwear engineering.
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. The velvet remains plush and vibrant. The interior gold foil branding is remarkably crisp.
Note: There is a very minor area of rubbing where the velvet meets the sole on the inner edge (see photos). This is common for the age and does not affect the structure.
Sizing (Please Read):
These are marked a vintage size 7 but run very small and narrow. They fit like a Modern US Women's 5 or 5.5 (EU 35/35.5).
• Insole Length: ~8.75"
• Ball Width: ~2.75"
• Heel Height: ~3.5"
Please measure a similar shoe you own to ensure fit, as vintage sales are final.
