Gorgeous 1970’s vintage black long sleeve mock neck dress by Canadian fashion designer Barbara Semrick.
There are so many amazing details to this dress, like the organza crepe capelet over the shoulders, pleated mock-neck collar with fabric covered button closures, back keyhole cutout, belted waist and the funky blue, pink, purple, yellow and red diagonal striped pattern.
Barbara Semrick was a lingerie designer for Vanity Fair and Daisy Fresh in Toronto in the 1970’s before branching out into designing dresses and sportswear in 1975.
After extensive research, I think this dress is a one of a kind piece that was part of her award-winning 1973 capsule collection, which she created while working at Vanity Fair / Daisy Fresh before launching her retail line in 1980.
Material is a semi-sheer polyester crepe. Hand wash in cold water and line dry.
Size 12 / Large. Vintage sizing can differ from that of today, please refer to measurements (taken laid flat):
Pit to pit: 25”
Shoulders: 17.25”
Sleeve Length (shoulder to cuff): 23.25”
Waist (belt size at longest extension): 30.5”
Length: 44.5”

Should I double each measurement for the actual size chart? Like, you wrote 30.5" for the waist, have you already doubled the flatten size or should I double it again? Because I don't understand these measurements

@parandparvaz The 30.5” for the waist measurement is already doubled from the flat lay of 15.25” ☺️ and no none of the other measurements should be doubled

@parandparvaz I see why my wording was confusing though since I mentioned the measurements were taken laid flat- I’ll fix that :)
