Gorgeous 925 sterling silver pendant handcrafted by Indigenous artist Don Lancaster. This round pendant features a killer whale. Killer whales, also known as orcas, are a central part of the culture of many Indigenous peoples in the Pacific Northwest. They are a symbol of luck, compassion, family, and protection.
Don Lancaster was born May 31, 1965 in Alert Bay, British Columbia, Canada. He is a member of the Kwakwaka’wakw nation, a community that inhabits the northeastern coast of Vancouver Island. Currently, Don resides in Victoria with his family and is actively involved in culturally based events. Don takes the Sun, Sisiutl (double-headed sea serpent) and the Wolf, three important crests within the Kwagiulth nation, as his family crest symbols.
Don incorporates his traditional Kwakwaka’wakw form with a balance of simplicity and fine detail to ultimately create exquisite jewelry that is in demand by many avid collectors. His work maintains a consistent balance of tradition and a contemporary vision which sets him apart from other indigenous artists.
Chain included is marked 925 and is 30” long
