ANTIQUE SIAM 925 STERLING NIELLOWARE BRACELET

Purchased by my grandmother in early 1920’s, this bracelet was also a favourite of my mom’s in the 50’s. This black and silver piece is called Siam Silver nielloware, after the black enamel style technique called niello used in its creation. Niello is more like an amalgam/ metal alloy than a true enamel, usually being a mixture of silver, copper, lead and sulfur. The term ‘niello’ has Latin origins (from the word nigellus, Latin for black). 1.75” wide / 7” long Weighs 68 grams
