This listing is not for sale! Hello there! Curious? I am the owner of a small business, Inspiration Boreal. I use Birch Polypore, Artist Conk and Red Belted Polypore mushrooms as a canvas for my drawings. These are shelf mushrooms that grow on trees all across North America. They are hard, like wood. After being dried for a week or two, they are ready for me to draw on them. Every mushroom varies so much in colour, shape and size that it's an adventure so see what kind of a drawing would suit them best. All drawings are pen and/or ink. My wish is that everyone could own a beautiful piece of artwork, for a reasonable price. I price my pieces fairly. My prices range from $40 to $500 depending on how much work went into the project. I have each piece that is available for sale at this time listed individually. This listing is just my gallery! Please do feel free to comment or ask questions about how these are made or or questions about my business etc! I'd love to hear from you:) Thank you for supporting small businesses. For more natural decor items visit www.inspirationboreal.com. or inspiration_boreal_art on Instagram

violetchrome Hello! Where do you harvest the fungi you are selling? I am a fellow mushroom lover, so I am interested in where and how you forage (especially since large brackets take years to grow). Thanks!

cashmerencalico @violetchrome Hey! Thanks for the question! I live in Quebec in the eastern townships so that's where I pick up what I find. And I have found several good sized mushrooms since I started my business. I'm always pretty excited about that! What kind of mushrooms do you forage?

cashmerencalico @violetchrome As far as how I forage them... the faces of them are very delicate when they are still growing on a tree, so I am careful to pull them off very slowly and without touching the face. Once they dry for a week or two they are much more resilient and you won't leave a mark on them unless you scratch them up.

violetchrome Thanks for your replies! I really only "forage" to photograph mushrooms as I use conservation areas primarily (in Southern Ontario). Three years of learning so far and over 500 different fungi species identified! You might want to make a note of where/how you harvest from on your site so people know you are doing so ethically. Thanks again for your reply :)
